This is 3hr to 4hr trip and will take in a number of the river Barrow's locks, along with a number of other interesting water level sights and sounds (also plenty of opportunity to see kingfishers). If people want to bring a picnic, snacks or tea/coffee, that's no problem. Taking place on Saturday August 3rd , we will be leaving the jetty at the Park in Graiguecullen for 11 am sharp.  This is a one way trip so please plan your own method of transport back to Carlow town. We suggest a look at http://www.irishrail.ie/ where a train ticket from Bagenalstown can be purchased for as little as €4.50  The cost of this trip is at the special rate of €32 per person. If you have any questions, please ring Cliff on 087-2061999. Looking forward to meeting you on the day.

Evening Chorus Cruise

6/6/2019

Given the success of our recent Dawn Chorus Cruise and requests from the participants, we are planning to hold an Evening Chorus Cruise on Thursday 13th of June. We leave the jetty in the Town Park, Graiguecullen, Carlow at 6:30pm and will head up river. Both the Dawn and Evening Chorus will soon stop for the year so this is the perfect opportunity to hear it from the river before it ends. In addition, we will also have representatives from Bird Watch Ireland aboard to help identify the various birds we see and hear. It is hoped that we will spot a few Kingfishers also. If you would like to join us, just follow the link below to book your place. We plan to be back in the town centre for approximately 8.30pm. The cost of this trip is €28 per person and it is not very suitable for small kids (its 2 hrs. long and they'll just get bored). Please remember also to wrap up warm. While the forecast is for a great evening, the river can still be cold late in the day. If you've any questions, please call Cliff on 087-2061999.

Sunday 5th of May is International Dawn Chorus Day. Taking part, we will be running a special Dawn Chorus Cruise on the river Barrow leaving Carlow town at 6am sharp. Heading downstream, we will watch the sunrise, and listen to the beautiful sound of the river as it awakens to the songs of the many waterside birds. We also hope to record a small snippet for RTE Radio. If you would like to join us, just follow the link below to book your place. Please note that we will be leaving from outside the Rowing Club and not our usual spot in the town park. This is due to the early morning start. We plan to be back in the town centre for approximately 8am. The cost of this trip is €28 per person and it is not very suitable for small kids (its 2 hrs. long and they'll just get bored). Please remember also to wrap up warm. While the forecast is for a good morning, the river is still very cold early in the day; so a hat, gloves and snug jacket is advised. If you've any questions, please call Cliff on 087-2061999.
